The Office of International Programs and Services at Jackson State University invites application for the Assistant Director of Global Engagement and Services. POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Global Engagement and Services is responsible for developing and facilitating academic, outreach and extracurricular programs to promote global learning outcomes for the entire student body, help international students integrate into campus and community life, expose domestic students to other culture and tradition, promote interaction between international and domestic students and develop link between the JSU, local and expatriate community in the greater Jackson area. This person is charged with creating academic enrichment and multicultural programs to fulfill the growing demand for global engagement programming, mentors and advises student groups and individual students with global development/awareness interests among domestic and international students, faculty, scholars, and staff. The Assistant Director increases the visibility of IPO through marketing efforts, social media and increase the involvement of students and community members in the mission of IPO. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with other JSU departments and offices, foreign colleges, universities, and external organizations for special projects or programs as required to build and recruit students for summer feeder programs, summer camps and summer music and language institutes. Plan events to develop ties with future alumni, build up alumni database, and work with university partners outside the US. Assist with fundraising efforts. Develop and implement awards to recognize international and domestic students, faculty and staff promoting campus internationalization. Maintains wide knowledge of university and community resources available to students and scholars. Conduct research and assist director with developing policies and procedures to guide the delivery of international student services. Leadership and advocacy across disciplines to support the development of global content across the curriculum for all students. Collaborate with faculty to develop global experiences for students who cannot travel abroad and promote globally-related research endeavors for students and faculty. Collaborate with ESL faculty to integrate ESL students into the general college population through conversation partner program and culture hours. Seek additional financial resources through grant applications and partnerships to support and enhance international initiatives at the university.
