The Office of International Programs and Services at Jackson State University invites applications for the Associate Director of Study Abroad. POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Director of Study Abroad will assist in running all aspects of the Year or Term Abroad and Summer Abroad programs. Serves as the principal point of contact for all matters related to the operation of the Study Abroad unit in the International Programs Office (IPO) and education abroad activities at the University. Collaborate with JSU departments, U.S. institutions and foreign partners to promote international programs. Advocate for international educational experiences and to integrate international experiences into the curricula. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops marketing plans to promote study abroad programs and recruit participants from JSU, other colleges and universities, and the general public where appropriate including brochures, catalog copy, website and social media postings, national resources for study abroad, and study abroad fairs on and off campus. Recruits, processes, counsels and prepares groups and individuals to achieve the fullest educational, cultural and personal growth possible. Oversee the study abroad process including information dissemination, application, training/orientation, safety and liability issues, program maintenance and evaluation. Collaborate within the International Programs Office and with university administration in developing university policies and procedures supportive of education abroad and integrating study abroad into degree plans. Implements operational and logistical aspects of each study abroad program, including faculty contracts, course setup, registration, purchase and supply orders, payroll, check requests, fund transfer and other documents as needed to support study abroad programs. Assesses need for new and revised programs, monitor and determine current program effectiveness. Assist the Director of International Programs in developing international exchange partnerships and projects to enrich the international experience for students, faculty, and staff. Administer international, national, regional, and local scholarship and grant opportunities for education abroad experiences. Negotiates with international sites to determine the services to be provided and the related costs for instruction, accommodations and excursions that enhance the educational experiences. Prepares quarterly and annual enrollment reports, program revenue and expense analysis to determine fiscal success and works with director, faculty, and international partners to determine program viability and manage study abroad enrollment management software.
