The Department of Real Estate at DePaul University seeks to recruit a tenured Professor and Departmental Chair. The Chairman serves as the academic leader of the faculty within the department and plays an active role in the college through participation on the Dean's Administrative Committee. The Director is responsible for building and expanding the real estate program through outreach to the real estate profession to advance the reputation and stature of the Real Estate Center: * Working with the Real Estate Center Sustaining Sponsor Executive Committee to solicit and incorporate their input into the center programs and activities. * Leading the fundraising and research development of the Institute for Housing Studies. The Real Estate Center's mission is to be the premier resource for academic and professional education within the region. Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinate the academic programs for the Master of Science in Real Estate, the MBA concentration in Real Estate Finance and Investment, and the undergraduate degree in Real Estate,. * Program and curriculum planning, development, scheduling, and oversight * Faculty recruitment, development, mentoring, and evaluation * Student recruitment and retention * Recruit, develop and supervise administrative and support staff * Participation in the college governance structure through presiding at department meetings and membership on the college administrative committee * Maintaining a scholarly research agenda with annual presentations at key academic associations and publication in top tier peer reviewed journals * Teaching load commensurate with administrative and research responsibilities * Develop, manage and monitor department budget * Maintain and expand relationships with sponsors and supporters of the Real Estate Center and the real estate community at large. * Work with Sustaining Sponsors of the Real Estate Center to provide financial support for the operations of the Center and for scholarships and student services * Maintain relationships and achieve a high profile within industry organizations, including ULI, PREA, ICSC, NAREIT, SIOR, and other professional societies by participating in their meetings and committees, and speaking at their conferences * Direct mentoring, internship and placement programs for graduate and undergraduate students and manage student and alumni organization relationships * Oversee Real Estate Center operations including strategic planning, fundraising, student mentoring, internship and placement activities, alumni activities, budgeting, etc. * Coordinate the annual Spring Award Conference and Fall program, and annual multi-university career conference as well as other professional education programs and symposia. * Coordinate preparation of annual report Serve as Principal Investigator for grants totaling $500,000 to $1million per year to provide funding for the Institute for Housing Studies * Provide leadership and represent the Institute with grantors and the public * Direct the work of academic researchers and senior fellows affiliated with the Institute * Work with Executive Director to oversee operations of Institute on behalf of funding sources, including maintaining and expanding the data warehouse, issuing periodic reports, developing and maintaining web based tools for applied and scholarly researchers, and responding to requests for technical assistance * Recruit and evaluate senior level staff Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Terminal degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics , Law, or other relevant discipline. Significant publication and achievement record that would permit appointment to an endowed position at associate or full professor. Record of relationships and leadership in major academic and professional real estate associations as participant, speaker, and program builder. Successful academic teaching record incorporating online courses and course components. Experience with foundation, public and private sector grants, and contracts. Established record as strong manager and team builder. An acknowledged academic and industry leader.
