Assistant Professor/Academic Coordinator
The Hofstra University Department in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies requests applications from qualified individuals for a full time academic coordinator position. The physician assistant program at Hofstra University is a fully accredited master’s degree program with a professional phase entering class of 50 students. The faculty member will be joining a team of six faculty members. This is a full-time (12-month) combined faculty and administrative appointment. Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess the following: • Candidates must possess a terminal degree in their field. Physician assistants must be licensed in New York State, currently certified by the NCCPA, and have a minimum of a master’s degree. • Previous teaching experience in a physician assistant program as a core faculty member is preferred but not required. • Previous clinical experience as a physician assistant or within your field of study is necessary. • Strong organizational, communication, teaching, and leadership skills are necessary. Responsibilities include: • The coordination of academic scheduling, evaluation, and implementation of the curriculum. • Provide physician assistant student instruction. • Participate in student advisement. • Coordinate and participate in the admission process. • Assist with the research curriculum. • Participate in scholarly activities. • Participate in the accreditation process.
