The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish section) offers a one-year Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for a recent PhD with a strong interest in foreign language pedagogy to begin Fall 2014. The successful candidate will teach in the fall a section of second semester Intermediate Spanish, Language and Literature (Spanish 202) under the supervision of a mentor, and help the department to examine issues surrounding its intermediate language sequence. Issues to be examined include: methodology, the nature of the course as a “bridge” to introductory literature courses or as a stand-along course, new language technologies and their applicability to this level. The postdoctoral fellow is also expected to teach a revised version of SPN 202 in the spring. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate closely in matters of language pedagogy with his/her department mentor.
