Vice President for Development, University of Vermont Foundation
The University of Vermont Foundation (UVM Foundation) seeks a dynamic and highly accomplished development leader to serve as its Vice President for Development. The Vice President for Development has primary responsibility for achieving annual and campaign fundraising goals, coordinating and shepherding multi-disciplinary fundraising projects to completion, and building the pipeline of future major gift donors for the University of Vermont. In addition to managing a pool of leadership-level donors, the Vice President will directly manage the development team and ensure execution of the soon-to-be public comprehensive campaign’s strategic plan. The Vice President will report to Rich Bundy, President and CEO of The UVM Foundation, and will serve as a key member of his Senior Management Team. He or she will provide strategic oversight of the major gift development program, to include managing and mentoring the development team. He or she will work to inspire staff to elevate and sustain activity as a way to further expand the culture of philanthropy at the University of Vermont The new leader will proactively manage a portfolio of leadership-level prospects, while at the same time develop and execute strategic cultivation, solicitation and stewardship initiatives. He or she will work collaboratively with University leadership, the university president, provost, deans and senior administrators regarding near-term and long-term gift opportunities. In addition to working with the University leadership, the Vice President will help recruit members of the donor community to key volunteer leadership positions at the UVM Foundation and within campus units. The Vice President will also provide directional leadership to the comprehensive campaign and execute the campaign’s strategic plan. He or she will work with the senior leadership and volunteers to create and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies in support of the priorities for each of the colleges and units. The successful candidate will have a record of significant achievements in development, preferably within higher education or a highly complex, multidivisional, and matrixed institution. He or she will be a visionary with impressive strategic planning and campaign experience and will have a personal track record as a principal gifts fund raiser and a builder of successful development programs, as well as having the interpersonal and communication skills to be highly effective and successful.
