Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President/Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations, this senior position manages and executes complex, high level strategies related to special initiatives, often originating at the level of the Dean, Associate VP, department chair or center/institute directors. These initiatives will often span institutional silos, requiring superior communication and relationship skills, sound analytical skills, the ability to interact effectively with very senior leaders, and the ability to produce results in complex situations under time pressure. The position will interact with leaders and colleagues in the SMHS, Medical Faculty Associates, GWU Hospital and general university, and also with external volunteers and donors including the Dean's Council and capital campaign chairs and committee members. The executive director will plan and implement action related to the SMHS capital campaign, with a goal to raise $250 million by June 30, 2018. The position will carry a portfolio of major-gifts prospects ($100,000 and above), including million-dollar prospects.
-Bachelor's Degree or higher, with a minimum of eight years' experience in the below areas, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
-Prior management experience in relevant area.
-Experience with relevant programs, including developing, promoting, and implementing programs.
-Excellent communications, leadership, and supervisory skills.
-Proficiency with a personal computer.
-Ten years of experience in principal/major gifts and as a major gift manager
-Excellent written and verbal skills
-Experience with communications strategy
