Duties: This position reports directly to the Dean and serves as the chief financial and operating officer for the Wharton School. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the senior administration of the University. The Vice Dean holds senior managerial and fiduciary responsibilities in all administrative and financial matters for the Philadelphia and San Francisco campuses. . He/she is responsible for oversight of the financial and administrative infrastructure of the School. The incumbent will represent the Dean and serve as spokesperson for the School to the executive and financial levels of the University.
The Wharton School was founded in 1881 and is the world's first collegiate school of business. Seen as one of the world's leading business schools, Wharton houses 230 standing faculty, 270 adjunct faculty and 710 staff. The School has an FY15 budget of $419 million, and its endowment is $1.1 billion.
Qualifications: A Master's Degree or more and over 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA preferred. Our candidate will have a successful record of leading multiple functions within a complex organization, preferably within higher education. We require a Vice Dean with vision, proven leadership ability and a strategic and innovative thinker. He/she will have experience leading, managing and mentoring a diverse staff, including senior level professionals. This position requires strong negotiation, communication and listening skills. The incumbent must have a strong professional presence and the ability to influence others. An understanding of international business is a plus. Some domestic and international travel may be necessary.
