Unit Job Summary: Associate Director, Financial Aid: Assists in the day-to-day operation of the College Aid Office and manages the department in the absence of the Director; assists in leading and directing the work of others; reviews and revises policies and procedures. Manages high-level projects, such as data processing needs of the department and the revision of the on-line and print publications. Performs need analyses to determine the expected family contribution by reviewing family financial data. Packages awards by assigning different types of financial aid to meet the student's demonstrated need; reviews appeals; assists with the verification process. Counsels students and parents about aid policies, procedures, and availability of aid to meet their needs. Participates in professional activities and organizations.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Unit Experience: At least five years experience in a financial aid office, required. Extensive knowledge of federal and state student aid program regulations, required. Extensive knowledge of financial aid software programs, required. Experience with comprehensive student system (i.e. Banner or PeopleSoft), preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Extensive knowledge of need analysis required. Strong customer service orientation required. Familiarity with Department of Education software products preferred.
