DEPARTMENT CHAIR, VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS Department: Visual and Performing Arts Salary: Commensurate Duties The chair, in cooperation with the faculty, is responsible for supervising activities of the department, scheduling classes, assisting in faculty evaluations, preparing budget requests, initiating appointment recommendations, developing the curriculum, supervising assessment activities, and managing the public face of the arts at Angelo State. The successful applicant will be committed to open and active communication with colleagues, possess strong organizational skills, and be able to support all three program areas - visual art, music, and theatre - within the department. Candidates should be dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards, both inside and outside the classroom. Candidates should also be in a position to lead recruitment and retention initiatives to expand the visual and performing arts at Angelo State. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidates should have the credentials and academic record to qualify for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. Experience in academic administration required. Qualifications Candidates must have a terminal degree in the visual arts, music, theatre, or a closely related field.
