Accountant I - Accounts Payable - Accounting Office

Job Description: The Accountant I is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payment requests/invoices of the University. This position requires independent work with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications: 1. Analytical skills: ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems and concepts, and make sound decisions based on available information
2. Experience in processing invoices and reimbursements for payment in accordance with policy
3. Experience in preparing and formatting Excel spreadsheets for preliminary reporting and transaction uploads
4. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate policies and procedures (verbal and written)
5. Ability to work as a team member
6. Ability to work independently including working with internal and external customers to resolve issues

Preferred Qualifications: 1.Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration
2.Experience using an ERP system
3.Experience with allocating expenditures to different funding sources
