GENERAL DUTIES

Establishes and maintains communication and ongoing working relationships with outside organizations and manages the design, implementation, and management of communications to support College visibility and recognition.

- Represents the College to a portfolio of external organizations

- Plans and implements communications campaigns, working with publications staff

- Applies an understanding of the concerns of external organizations to develop short- and long-range plans to advance the College's position and support community/public identified needs

- Plans and implements major activities such as conferences, collaborative partnerships, and educational programs to support identified needs and issues

- Identifies and develops new audiences and communities to further the mission of the College

- Develops and implements advertising and communications campaigns, working with publications and editorial personnel

- Maintain relationships with media representatives

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Community & College Relations Manager, will establish and maintain communications and ongoing working relationships with outside organizations and manage the design, implementation, and management of communications to support college visibility and recognition. He/she will manage the public relations team and work with media outlets to publish press releases and stories as well as manage and establish relationships with media outlets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
Public/Corporate Relations or Journalism experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit institutions or organizations. 
Writing compelling stories or press releases that generate local and/or national media attention.
Creating and implementing public relations plans.
Managing story/press release development among several writers.   
Relationships with current and prospective media contacts preferred.
Photography skills a plus.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with education and experience.
