Position Summary: Provides accounting controls for general fund, special, endowment, revolving, MSUE, and AgBioResearch accounts for School of Planning, Design and Construction, Land Policy Institute, and Native American Institute; works with faculty, administrators, and business manager to provide monthly reporting and planning, and to do quarterly and year end projections; develops tools for analysis with administrators and business manager; creates subaccounts as needed to aid in tracking and analysis; audits vouchers, personnel forms and operating statements in order to ensure accuracy and validity; approves expenditure of funds (finance documents in EBS: ProCard, disbursement vouchers, etc.); manages and oversees compilation of data; maintains metrics database to analyze unit productivity (research, outreach, instruction, publications, etc.); works with administrators and faculty on inclusion and formatting of data; processes short-term, fixed term faculty appointments in SAP who are hired to teach classes; recommends salary based on experience, education and duties in comparison to other instructors; calculates percent effort for appointments; prepares required attachments for appointments (i.e., fixed term memo, UNTF offer letters, obtains background check, if needed), and follows through SAP to ensure appointments are done before classes begin; communicates information to other staff, as needed; processes requests for DS 2019 visiting research scholars through the Office of International Students and Scholars on-line system; communicates with faculty and visiting scholars throughout the process; acts as backup to Research Administrator I; develops budgets while staying within regulations of MSU and funding agency; revises budget as needed for faculty and CGA approval; prepares MSU transmittal and monitors to ensure approvals before deadline; works as liaison between P.I., Unit, and Contract and Grant Administration regarding account setup, closeout, questions on regulations throughout the life of the award; monitors and reconciles monthly operating statement, monitors subcontracts and payments; reports to faculty and forecasts account spending for closeout.

Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting and/or business administration; experience in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
