RESEARCH INSTRUCTOR (Infectious Diseases)

Position Summary: RESEARCH INSTRUCTOR. This position will provide HIV primary care at the state and federal funded Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part B/C grants located at Wake County Health Human Services HIV/STD Clinic in Raleigh, NC. UNC- Chapel Hill provides services at the Wake County Human Services through a contract. Position will also provide patient care associated with HIV/AIDS within the N.C. Department of Public Safety (state prison system). The clinical work environment for this position requires attention to health and safety issues. Infectious Disease Clinics are held at clinics in 2 maximum security prisons (Central Prison and N.C. Correctional Institute for Women), both located in Raleigh, NC. Duties will include assisting with direct patient management and clinical coordination of the Infectious Disease Clinics and Consultations at the prison-based clinics and hospital ward.
Education Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, MSN or MHS, and completion of a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and "approved to practice medical acts" by the Joint Subcommittee or Graduation and/or completion of an educational program for Physician Assistant License issued by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
Qualification and Experience: Experience in providing care to people with HIV/AIDS. Must be able to work with a diverse population, understand their differing needs and be able to respond to them in a way that is culturally competent, sensitive and caring, including people in both rural and urban areas, and people with significant life-challenges in addition to HIV-infection. They must be committed advocates for the health and general welfare of the patients.
