Associate Director of Admission
Knox College is a nationally ranked, private, residential liberal arts college of 1,420 students from 48 states and 51 countries. The admission staff has been successful in expanding the geographic reach of the College and expanding the applicant pool to the highest levels in Knox’s history. 60% of applicants are students of color or international students. College enrollments are at the highest levels in 40 years, with plans to further expand the size of the campus community and engage in capital campaigns to sustain the expansion. To support this plan, Knox seeks an enthusiastic, goal-oriented, seasoned admission officer for the position of Associate Director of Admission. Working closely with the other Associate Directors and Dean of Admission, this Associate will be a key member of the admission team, contributing to developing, managing, and implementing recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment and revenue objectives. The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for the development and implementation of all admission communications, including publications, website, email, direct mail, and social media campaigns, working closely with other offices on campus and with third party vendors. Other responsibilities will be based on the experience of the candidate and could include managing the application and scholarship review process, campus visit programs, student ambassadors, data analysis and research, and/or other operational areas. The Associate Director will also work within an assigned recruitment territory to achieve a high level of visibility for the College; identify well-matched candidates for admission; and build relationships with high school counselors, alumni, prospective students, and parents. You should be willing to travel occasionally and work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during the academic year. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of prior experience in college admission, preferably at a selective liberal arts college. Master’s degree is preferred • Extensive understanding of relationship development strategies, including the use of new media and creative approaches to communications • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, and analytic skills • Demonstrated record of project management and leading initiatives • Experience with admission data analysis and research and incorporating the results into recruitment activities • Past success in managing a recruitment territory and achieving goals; broad national recruitment experience and contacts are a plus • Commitment to inclusion and diversity in college admission • Dedication to and ability to articulate the value of a traditional liberal arts education • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and common social media applications (e.g. Facebook, Twitter). Prior experience with the Slate admission CRM is highly desirable.
