Provides expert and/or specialized academic counseling a diverse student population. 

- Offers comprehensive advisement to full-time and part-time students

- Works with other academic affairs staff as well as enrollment and student affairs to assist students to declare majors and select appropriate courses

- Monitors students' performances and takes appropriate action if necessary; resolves students' problems regarding curricular requirements

- Develops academic plans and performs graduation audits

- Provides information to students regarding student support services, college policies and program procedures and guidelines

- Facilitates workshops; assists with other department activities such as course scheduling

- Establishes and maintains student advisement files; prepares activity reports and analyses

- May supervise extramural activities, such as internships and community service; may assist with accreditation efforts as needed

- May provide career and transfer services and/or specialized program counseling

- May supervise junior advising and/or clerical staff

- Performs related duties as assigned.

The Student Welcome Center Senior Academic Advisor for Recruitment/Transfers reports to the Welcome Center Manager.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Create Transfer Credit Rules for evaluations.
- Assist with the posting of transfer credit(s).
- Present at informational sessions and workshops for accepted and registered students.
- Review transcripts of course work taken at other institutions and evaluate course work to determine eligibility to receive transfer credit.
- Answer, research, record, and resolve all questions related to a student's transfer evaluation.
- Perform data input/processing in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner.


Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.


- Possess knowledge of accepted policies and practices in American higher education related to granting of credits and degrees, course structures and grading practices
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with CUNYfirst (specifically Student Records and Records & Enrollment), AS400, UAPC preferred
- Knowledge of MS Office Products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required
- Detailed oriented and ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Problem solving and strong critical thinking skills


Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
