Position Summary: Applications are invited for postdoctoral researchers to work with Dr. Chong-Yu Ruan, Dr. Phil Duxbury, and Dr. Bhanu Mahanti on the studies of complex materials using femtosecond electron imaging and spectroscopy techniques. The research subjects will be centered around charge-density waves, strongly correlated oxides and chalcogenides, graphite-related materials, and theoretical interpretations. We particularly seek candidates with interests in studying phase transitions, and can oversee the projects and work with graduate students in developing new experiment protocols and new instrument to advance our knowledge of complex and functional materials through femtosecond imaging and spectroscopy.

The position is for two years, renewable for a third year upon mutual agreement. The start date is negotiable, with an inclination towards summer or fall of 2013.

A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or related subject.

Desired Qualifications: Candidates with previous experience in femtosecond lasers, ultrafast imaging and spectroscopy, and electron microscopy are particularly encouraged to apply.
