Position Summary: The Program in Mathematics Education at Michigan State University is seeking a distinguished scholar to become the Lappan- Phillips-Fitzgerald Professor of Mathematics Education. The endowed chair includes a nationally competitive salary and substantial research support.
We seek a senior scholar with an outstanding record of research on the teaching and learning of mathematics or statistics. The successful candidate will enhance MSU's national reputation for scholarship on the teaching and learning of mathematics. This will involve providing intellectual leadership within the MSU mathematics education community, and with faculty from other institutions, to create and sustain research opportunities. We seek a scholar who also has record of working effectively as a mentor for early-career faculty members and doctoral students, and who is a dedicated teacher with a commitment to teaching as an essential component of scholarship.
Michigan State University is the home to a large and vibrant mathematics education community, including faculty members from the Colleges of Education and Natural Science, the highly ranked doctoral program in mathematics education (http://prime.cns.msu.edu), and the Collaborative Research in Education Assessment and Teaching Environments for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Institute (CREATE for STEM).
