Lecturer in Sociology (One Year Replacement)
Lecturer in Sociology (One-Year Replacement) beginning September 2014. The course load in the fall will include several large sections of Introduction to Sociology plus Social Stratification and Research Methods. In spring it will include at least one smaller section of Introduction to Sociology plus Classical Sociological Theory and other upper-level courses to be mutually chosen with the department. The fulltime load for a person with the doctorate is 4 courses per semester, while the load for a person lacking the doctorate is 5 courses per semester. It is possible for this position to be split among two or more persons; we can more readily hire locally for the introductory courses, and would invite applications from individuals interested only in one or more of the upper-level courses. A PhD in sociology is preferred. Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching experience is a definite plus. Applicants should submit a formal letter of application, a current vita, the names and contact information of three individuals who can provide letters of recommendation, and photocopies of transcripts for all graduate work. Original transcripts and actual letters of reference will be required before hiring. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is committed to recruiting, supporting and fostering a diverse community of outstanding faculty, staff and students, and is an AA/EEO Employer. Employment will require a criminal background check. UW Oshkosh complies with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act with regard to nondiscrimination on the basis of arrest and/or conviction record. Applications will be considered beginning May 31, 2014, and continue until the position is filled. Application materials should be sent to Dr. Gerry Grzyb, Dept. of Sociology, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, 54901.
