New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in areas such as manual and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing, product design, rapid prototyping, machine design, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), as well as conduct research, develop new courses, and engage in service activities. Teaching areas will include: Advanced manufacturing processes (manual and CNC), Advanced CAD/CAM, and simulation/animation.

Located in downtown Brooklyn, New York City College of Technology is a comprehensive college offering both Associate and Baccalaureate degrees. The School of Technology and Design includes both engineering technology and integrated media programs, providing a rich environment for collaboration among departments. The Mechanical Engineering Technology department has a full time faculty of 8 with 23 part-time faculty members. It offers the Associate in Applied Science degrees (AAS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Design Technology and a baccalaureate degree (BTech) in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.


The position requires a master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology (or closely related field) plus a PE license. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience with the courses listed above or professional experience in mechanical engineering and manufacturing is essential. The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is accredited by TAC/ABET. More information is available on the department website:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
