Job description

Duties: The Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center is seeking applicants with substantial previous training in Cognitive Therapy (CT) or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to serve as instructors in The Beck Initiative, under the direction of Torrey A. Creed, Ph.D. Since 2007, the Beck Initiative has served as a model for the successful implementation of CT in community mental health settings in Philadelphia, increasing access to evidence based treatment for an economically, culturally, and ethnically diverse urban population. The successful candidate will help community mental health clinicians develop CT skills to support adults or children in their recovery from anxiety, depression, anger, recent incarceration, homelessness, substance abuse, and other common behavioral health issues, in the context of large-scale training grants, program evaluation, and research. CT will be implemented in varied behavioral health settings that may include outpatient clinics, Assertive Community Treatment (ACTS) teams, inpatient settings, day treatment programs, schools, residential treatment settings, and others. Primary responsibilities will involve the dissemination and implementation of CT, including agency and therapist engagement, delivery of workshops, group supervision, and ongoing support for sustained practice of CT. Participation in research, program evaluation, grant writing, IRB activities, planning and execution of specialized training, and other academic and administrative endeavors are also part of the experience. Applications are welcomed from post-doctoral level, license-eligible, or licensed individuals.

Qualifications: Highly advanced professional discipline. M.D., Psy.D., Ph. D., in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychiatry or a related discipline and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates with expertise in CT/CBT or training and supervision will be considered, but the ideal candidate will have significant experience in both. Bilingual applicants are particularly encouraged to apply. Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license. Position contingent upon funding.
