Research Assistant




These are 1-year grant funded positions.

The Office of Student Academic Success Programs, part of the Office of Undergraduate Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, collaborates with other college divisions to develop programs and initiatives that support the academic and social growth of first-year, sophomore, and transfer students. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Academic Success Programs, the Research Assistant is responsible for program support to the CUNY Student Success research project --  Promoting Retention and Persistence: An Evaluation of Co-curricular Integration Strategies in First-Year and Transfer Transition Seminars and for supporting related departmental initiatives.

In addition to the General Duties, the Research Assistant will:
- Coordinate with faculty and peer mentor coordinator.
- Support co-curricular initiatives peer mentors organize for their cohorts.
- Coordinate and/or support the pre- and mid-program administration of the College Student inventory.
- Conduct focus groups and in-depth interviews with students.
- Coordinate and/or support the collecting and organizing of data as well as preparing documentation.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience relevant to the research being performed.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Research Assistant (1 to 2 years) or equivalent experience
- Experience with data analysis and report writing
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Highly detail-oriented; able to meet deadlines; excellent communication skills; able to collaborate with others
- Master's Degree
- Prior experience working on research grants
- Experience with Microsoft Access databases
- Knowledge of SPSS


$35,244 - $47,841


CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
