Job Description: The Albert B. Alkek Library at Texas State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Assistant III ? Learning Commons Reference Assistant. Reporting to the Learning Commons Librarian, this position provides basic reference assistance to library patrons, refers more complex reference questions to the appropriate subject librarians and computer and printer related problems to appropriate library staff. The Learning Commons Reference Assistant works independently in a fast-paced customer-focused environment at the Research and Information desk and fulfills a key role in welcoming users to the Alkek Library and encouraging use of Library resources.

Required Qualifications: Written and oral communication skills; interpersonal skills; ability to read and interpret complex material; problem-solving and decision-making skills; intermediate math skills; ability to work under pressure during busy times at the Research and Information desk; ability to assist patrons in locating resources outside of the library; general knowledge of academic subjects and current events; and availability to work evenings and weekends.

Additional Information for Applicants: SALARY AND BENEFITS: $2,190 - $2,833 monthly commensurate with experience. Benefits include monthly contribution to health insurance/benefits package and retirement program. No state or local income tax.
