Duties and Responsibilities: *Engage students in advanced outreach and research in best practices in sustainable urban design. *Contribute to the development of an online certificate in urban design and eventual new graduate degree. *Strengthen ties to and potential student recruitment from Hispanic and Native American communities throughout Arizona towns and cities. *Advance scholarship in the fields of urban design, urban planning, and landscape urbanism as well as sustainable downtown and corridor masterplanning, urban revitalization, and neighborhood stabilization in diverse populations with extrapolation of lessons to applications worldwide. *Advance the college's engagement strategy with the City of Tucson, Pima County, Downtown Tucson Partnership, other non-governmental agencies, citizen groups, and business. *Operate design studios at UA-Downtown to envision and propose sustainable infill development practices for Arizona. *Strengthen collaboration across the college including the new Institute for Place and Wellbeing, Sustainable Cities Project, and externally, the Institute of the Environment and the UA Office of Sustainability. Additional Minimum Qualifications: *Terminal degree in a related design profession or equivalent professional practice experience. *Professional licensure or certification. *Demonstrated record of excellence in professional practice in urban design. *Environmental sustainability credentials. *Exceptional oral and graphic communications. *Proficiency in state-of-the-art design software, including GIS, BIM, and other modeling software. Preferred Qualifications: *Accredited professional degrees in both Architecture and Landscape Architecture, at least one being a Master's degree. *Experience in outreach (such as community design), public service, and service learning (three years minimum). *Experience teaching interdisciplinary studios, including architecture and either Landscape Architecture or planning, and sustainable design and construction. *Experience in academic administration, such as running an outreach center or department head (two years minimum). *Professional Architectural and/or Landscape Architectural consulting experience in design or project management; evidence of professional collaboration skills; design awards, publications, competition wins, and other evidence of peer reviewed accomplishment. *Evidence of contribution to professional organizations or societies, such as AIA, ASLA, CELA. *Funded research in architecture or Landscape Architecture.
