The simulation specialist assists the Coordinator of Nursing Simulation and Learning Resources in providing clinical experiences in the nursing skills lab. The simulation assistant provides direct clinical education to undergraduate and graduate students in the lab through simulation, skill practice and remediation. He or she assists faculty in both undergraduate and graduate programs in the design, development and implementation of simulation experiences with multi-media resources. The assistant facilitates student learning by organizing and preparing LRC and simulation case scenarios.

Assist in Simulation Education
• collaborate closely with Coordinator of Simulation and Learning Resources and faculty to develop and manage case studies used in simulation experiences
• provide maintenance and care for lab equipment, manikins and simulators
• participate in simulation scenarios
• provide debriefing for simulation scenarios
• evaluate student performance in the clinical laboratory
• provide simulation demonstrations (community, open house, homecoming)
• participate in the Maine Simulation User’s Group (Maine SUN)
• attend simulation educational conferences
• participate with other disciplines to create inter-professional opportunities in the Learning Resource Lab and Simulation
• participate in Program and School meetings, retreats, committees, and activities as appropriate

Provide direct education to students and faculty
• Offer direct clinical education to undergraduate students with skills practice in either one-on-one or small group instruction
• Supply skill remediation through the prescription program to undergraduate students in the nursing skills lab
• Provide education and demonstration on equipment and supplies to faculty and students
• Assist with lab setup for supplies and equipment needed in clinical labs

Bachelors’ prepared professional registered nurse with current Maine Nursing License preferred; individuals who are currently enrolled in a BSN program may be considered. At least three (3) years of experience in health care required; experience in teaching preferred. Knowledge and familiarity with simulation, multi-media resources and computers, or willingness to be trained are preferred
