Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Area Coordinator in the Office of Residence Life. This is a full-time exempt administrative position reporting to the Director of Residence Life. The Office of Residence Life administers all of the functions of the residence halls and residential community at Allegheny. The Area Coordinator will be an integral part of Residence Life and work to cultivate a healthy learning community at Allegheny College. The Area Coordinator will have primary responsibility to work with the Residence Life professional and student staff to create a safe and positive residential community. This includes residential education and programming, student-staff supervision and mentoring, crisis management, participating in the on-call rotation, community development, staff selection, leadership development, facility coordination, committee assignments and developing liaisons with other college offices, student groups and families. In addition to these responsibilities, this position will have the opportunity to coordinate special projects and assignments within the department. This is a live-in position. The Area Coordinator is the primary professional staff member available in the residence halls for student contact. It is expected that the Area Coordinator live in the assigned apartment and respond to student needs that arise. Availability after hours and weekends is required. Candidates will preferably have a Master’s Degree (Bachelors required) in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling or a related field. Professional, live-in experience is preferred. Experience with crisis response is also desired. The candidate must also have strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
