GENERAL DUTIES

Manages the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of student programs and quality of life issues, promoting the personal development of a diverse student population.
  
- Evaluates student needs and trends to develop a range of student services

- Develops and administers specific programs and general activities in support of student needs

- Develops relationships with college departments and outside community organizations to understand student needs and available development opportunities

- Represents the College in campus-wide and university-wide groups and councils focusing on priority student issues

- Manages staff, fiscal resources, and facilities supporting student affairs activities

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Student Life Manager will report to the Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs of the School of Social Work. This position will have primary responsibility for all student services and student affairs in the MSW program. The successful candidate will work intensively with students, identifying and responding to problems and needs to optimize student progress. The Student Life Manager will consult with faculty instructors and advisors to monitor academic standing, performance, probation, completion of requirements, and degree progress, and serve as liaison to various College offices related to student affairs including Financial Aid, Registrar, the Student Counseling Center, and Office of Accessibility as well as the Library. In addition, the Student Life Manager will be liaison to the Board of Student Representatives, Student-Faculty Senate and other student alliances and groups;  coordinate the planning of school-wide student-focused events, including orientations, graduations, and Common Days; develop and disseminate policy and protocol regarding student relations and update the student handbook annually for publication; develop programs and mechanisms to strengthen student performance; oversee the Student Affairs budget; and supervise assigned staff members. The Student Life Manager will serve on the Dean's Senior Staff and complete projects as assigned by the Dean or the Associate Dean.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

BA or BSW and at least 6 years of related experience is preferred (MSW or higher degree strongly preferred) with academic/work experience that includes knowledge of social work and social work curriculum. Preferred candidates will have at least 3 years of social work practice in diverse urban settings with strong assessment, problem solving, and interpersonal skills as well as effective English oral and written communication skills. These are necessary for dealing with students, faculty, and College staff.  Excellent organizational skills and knowledge of databases and software are required.

COMPENSATION

$55,602 - $88,418
