French: One-Year Teaching Fellowship

French -Augustana College invites applications for a Teaching Fellowship in French starting August, 2014. This is a full-time, one-year position that we anticipate replacing with a tenure-track line in the near future. The standard teaching load is seven 3-credit courses per year on a ten-week trimester calendar. This next year’s load will be primarily language courses, but will also include a course in our Liberal Studies First Year program, and may include an advanced French course in literature or cultural studies. Specialization for this position is open, but the long-term needs of the French program are in the area of Medieval/Renaissance; secondary interests in interdisciplinary areas such as film studies or gender studies are preferred. Strong candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teaching, mentoring, and recruiting students, as well as to ongoing professional growth, and engagement with and service to the campus and the department. A Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. Augustana College is a selective liberal arts college of 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre campus.
