Position Information:
The growing UCR School of Medicine is seeking student affairs professionals to develop and implement new student programs and events. There are two career opportunities available.

The UCR School of Medicine, the first public medical school in California in more than 40 years, is committed to training a diverse physician workforce for Inland Southern California region and to developing research and health care delivery innovations that improve the health of medically underserved populations.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs and the Director of Student Affairs, this position is responsible for performing advanced professional assignments involving a wide range of student services for the School of Medicine. The primary areas of responsibility include: student program development and the planning and organizing of events. Additionally, the position will be responsible for advisement of potential and enrolled students; monitoring of each student's progress toward degree completion; informing students, academic advisors, faculty and staff members of the policies and procedures pertaining to School of Medicine student affairs; referring students to appropriate support services; analyzing academic trends and working with other professional academic advisors and departments to meet student advising needs. This position will also be responsible for representing the School of Medicine at outreach and retention activities including student orientations, events, and related programs.

Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and prior experience as a professional level student affairs officer or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of college education and experience.
2. Demonstrated progressively responsible student affairs experience in a research university setting.
3. Demonstrated experience in effectively advising and counseling students.
4. Ability to work with and counsel students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and various cultures.
5. Working knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of event planning, production, and public relations.
6. Organizational ability to coordinate student programs and events.
7. Strong commuter proficiency in MS Office applications, online business systems, and online student information systems.
8. Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills necessary to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
9. Excellent communication skills to communicate with Deans, faculty, staff, students and the public.
10. Skills to successfully interact with individuals from diverse background using diplomacy and tact.
11. Strong interpersonal skills.
12. Strong oral presentation skills.
13. Excellent writing skills to produce spreadsheets, reports, instructional brochures, booklets and handout materials.
14. Strong writing skills for drafting various forms of communication including promotional information, website content, announcements, correspondence, etc.
15. Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to the responsibilities of the position including Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
16. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
17. Hired candidate must successfully complete a background check through the U.S. Department of Justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with online Student Information System (SIS+), or equivalent student records.
2. Experience with UC enterprise systems such as UCRFS, PeopleSoft, Ebuy, or other on-line financial programs.
3. Demonstrated experience with UC policies and procedures.
4. University of California experience.
