Job Summary This is technical and professional work directing and performing routine as well as complex, research in and maintenance of a large scientific collection. Work includes performance, with a high degree of autonomy, those tasks necessary to assure the effectiveness of programs and services within the botany herbarium, including: supervision of activities in the research collection, responsibility for conducting public tours of the facility, and being available for instruction. The incumbent also participates in the preparation of research papers for publication, the compilation of data for annual reports and grant proposals, and manages activities such as specimen identification, record-keeping, budgeting, and purchasing. Instructions to the incumbent are provided orally, and work is reviewed through observations of results.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and some related experience or equivalent combination required. Area-specific certification and/or training may be required and other training will be provided as appropriate.
