Position Summary: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Office Specialist 2 position for Admissions at Oregon State University.

The Office Specialist 2 performs a wide range of office support, technical, and/or minor administrative or business-related tasks in support of campus programs or operations.

Position Duties: 70% - Evaluate credentials for admission eligibility for all students. Research transfer institution to determine if OSU recognizes it and meets transfer guidelines, build history in Banner SIS. Perform transfer articulations which include: grading table maintenance, evaluation and updating of transfer equivalences, evaluate and research courses for the appeals process. Evaluate credentials for admission eligibility. Compare credentials of applicants against stated requirements for eligibility. Make appropriate decision. In cases where qualifications are marginal, make a decision of admit, deny or refer file to secondary review process.

15% - Process Web applications, includes building the application in SIS by entering names of schools attended and test scores. Match documents with application.

10% - Process student inquiries and OSU departments via email, phone call, postal mail or personal visit.

Ability to:
Independently research, assess, and retrieve information from the Internet.

Provide and receive information in person, by phone, or electronically.

Explain information regarding specific programs or services. Provide in-depth technical information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications: Must be competent in Microsoft Windows, EMAIL, Word Processing, and spreadsheets.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Experience and confidence when using the computer and computer programs to insure accurate data entry and navigation to work efficiently.
