Job Description Summary

To provide sign language interpreting services for hearing impaired or deaf students.



Job Responsibilities

Work with hearing impaired and deaf students to provide interpreting or transcribing services for classes, appointments, and other college sponsored events. Performs platform interpreting for college sponsored activities such as conferences, workshops and seminars. Substitutes for other interpreters as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications

Possess strong expressive and receptive skills in ASL. Knowledge of and adherence to the interpreting Code of Professional Conduct. Understanding of deaf culture. Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a college setting.



Preferred Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Interpreter Training Program. RID/NAD certification. Degree in Educational Interpreting. Transcription skills.



Work Schedule

Assignments may be day,evening and/or weekend hours. Must be willing to accept assignments on short notice. Some travel may be required.
