Position Information:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, the incumbent is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, and implementation of an extensive development and fund raising program that will result in increased scholarship support and planning and producing a more comprehensive annual giving program. In close coordination with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, the incumbent develops and oversees the identification, planning, organization and implementation of prospect cultivation for assigned programs as set by the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. The incumbent ensures the success of multiple fundraising projects, and the achievement of campus objectives. Minimum Requirements:
-Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years minimum experience in fundraising.

-Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of annual and major gift fundraising. Understanding of academic, research and education functions and operation principles of a major research university.

-Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including cultivation, stewardship and donor recognition. Proven capability to create and secure new funding sources for university from public and private sectors.

-Demonstrated experience working with data mining and analysis, and the ability to work closely with technical to design effective appeals, metrics, timelines, and results.

-Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and donor prospects, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues.

-Ability to conceptualize, design and implement a development program. Demonstrated understanding of market segmentation, strategies and communications around annual gifts across campus units.

-Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders, and volunteers as necessary to achieve fundraising goals.

-Ability to work effectively with advancement staff in devising, analyzing, modifying, implementing and evaluating development programs.

-Skill in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing, about private gift fundraising in general and in particular as it applies to UCR. Successful experience using a broad range of communication methods to shape management initiatives and build alliances and partnerships.

-Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to work effectively with individuals from various status ranks from diverse institutional and community sectors to achieve common objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Advanced degree.

-Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment.

-Experience with major fundraising campaigns.

-Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of annual and major gift fundraising within a major research university environment.

-Experience and skill in having a leadership role in a complex development program within a major university.

-Experience and demonstrated ability in strategic planning and action

-Established expertise in creating and mobilizing issue and project-oriented coalitions.
