Under the supervision of the DSP&S Supervisor, provides instructional support for the De Anza Vocational Instructor at an off-campus HOPE Services site. This position serves students with intellectual and other varied disabilities. Main responsibilities include the oversight and technical maintenance of the student computer lab. Oversee sub-contract production that serves as an extension of the instructional classroom. Assist the instructor in teaching basic academic and vocational skills, interpersonal skills, and professional behavior necessary in the workplace and in the community. Execute goals important for student success for each student and measure their progress on these goals using a daily tracking sheet. Do all the necessary paperwork that is associated with the annual and semi-annual meetings. Maintain working relationships with San Andreas Regional Center workers and family members of the students. Make recordings in student files pertaining to student progress and important events, meetings, incidents, suspensions, behavior problems, etc. Take daily attendance for caseload. ??
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the instructional program by performing technical work in an instructional learning environment for a vocational or academic subject area. Coordinate lab class programs and other instructional facilities and materials of the assigned area of learning; select and oversee the performance of student tutors and others.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist in the instructional program by performing technical work in an instructional learning environment for a vocational or academic subject area; exercise judgment and initiative in coordinating lab class programs and other instructional facilities and materials of the assigned area of learning.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned instructional lab.
• Develop, explain and demonstrate learning exercises and instructional materials to aid in student comprehension of course work; present information to students in a logical, accurate and interesting manner; assist in developing course materials.
• Select and oversee the performance of student tutors; establish and monitor lab schedules for instructional personnel, tutors and students as assigned; train and provide work direction to assigned personnel.
• Assist instructors, staff and students in the use of a variety of equipment, materials and supplies in an instructional laboratory setting; design, modify and enforce lab procedures and policies; advise faculty on new or upgraded instructional systems.
• Order, receive, catalog and store supplies, materials and equipment.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of files, records and reports as assigned, using word processing and spreadsheet programs; develop individual reports for students as required by assigned program.
• Maintain learning environment in a safe, clean and orderly condition; make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as needed.
• Maintain student records to assess progress of students; administer, evaluate and score tests, projects and assignments as directed by the instructor.
• Provide information on available resources to students; encourage student participation and advise students regarding learning materials available; respond to student problems, questions and complaints.
• Operate and instruct others in the use of a variety of technical or specialized equipment related to area of specialty.
• Attend a variety of meetings as assigned.

• Set up, design and operate assigned departmental equipment with skill.
• Understand, interpret and apply department rules, policies and technical materials relating to assigned field.

• Any combination equivalent to an Associate’s degree in a field of expertise or related field AND three (3) years related instructional experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years experience working with people with disabilities?
• Knowledge and understanding of physical, psychological, and intellectual disabilities.?
• Knowledge of ADA laws, Title 5 and 504 regulations.?
• Experience supporting students with disabilities, specifically those who are Developmental Delayed Learners (DDL) or on the Autism Spectrum.?
• Ability to demonstrate strong computer skills specifically in Microsoft office applications. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Salary: $4,086.57 (per month) plus benefits; Salary Grade: C1-45
