The Office of Technology Services (OTS) is committed to providing the highest quality support for communications and computing to facilitate student success, lifelong learning, teaching and the business processes of Towson University.
OTS is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting complex technical services. The position will provide the primary support for new technical services such as a virtual desktop infrastructure and systems for application delivery. This position also serves in a consulting role for technology personnel within the University and provides information not limited to upgrade proposals, risk analysis reports, budget items, statistics, growth forecasting, and recovery plans. In addition, the position serves as a secondary administrator for other services as assigned and helps facilitate all activities in the Application Engineering group.
Required: Associate degree and 2 years of related experience required. Expertise in system/desktop virtualization technologies including their administration, security auditing, maintenance, performance monitoring, and planning related to managing the services and demonstrated experience with complex computing environments, system management and monitoring, disaster recovery techniques and network security a plus. Must be able to use scripting (PowerShell Scripting preferred) to provide automation to the Windows/AD environment; possess in depth knowledge of enterprise systems functionality and design concepts; and have experience and in depth knowledge of Microsoft Server applications, Windows Server, and AD/LDAP. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Must be available for off hour maintenance and rotating on-call responsibilities.
Related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred: Knowledge of VMware, VDI, Server Storage, SQL Server, Load Balancing Appliances and demonstrated project leadership experience.
