CONNECTICUT COLLEGE seeks a strongly motivated, imaginative individual committed to planning and implementing student recruitment strategies, and a willingness to engage with prospective students, parents and counselors in order to reach departmental goals. The ideal candidate will help to maintain and increase the selectivity, quality and diversity of the applicant pool through a variety of recruitment and yield activities; provide information and counseling to prospective students, parents and counselors by conducting interviews, group presentations, school visits, receptions and application follow-up; interact with current students, faculty, administrators, alumni to develop and coordinate on and off campus recruitment programs; review applications individually and in a committee, recommend candidates for admission; manage special projects including on-campus programming and work to develop new and creative programs to enhance prospect development; prepare statistical and area reports. S/he must be able to effectively articulate the nature and aims of an undergraduate, residential liberal arts education in the context of sensitivity towards and knowledge about the backgrounds of an increasingly diverse candidate pool. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably from a residential, liberal arts college, with two to five years of admission experience. Outstanding interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills and a commitment to working with diverse groups of students is also essential. The ability to make clear and concise presentations and create/execute innovative admission programs will be essential for our success. Candidates must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Extensive travel and a valid driver’s license are required.
