Position Summary: World Languages and Cultures in the School of Language, Culture, and Society invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full/part-time French Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2014-2015 academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Director.

Instructors may be needed to teach one to four on-campus or Ecampus undergraduate courses in French.

The primary mission of World Languages and Cultures program is undergraduate education. The program offers BA and MAIS degrees, with majors and minors in Spanish, French and German, and minors in Japanese, Russian and Chinese. Courses are also offered in Arabic and Italian. There are approximately 180 undergraduate majors, as well as, a graduate program leading to a MA in Contemporary Hispanic Studies. The faculty includes 30 members with areas of specialization in languages, cultures and literatures.

World Languages and Cultures program is part of the School of Language, Culture, and Society, which also includes Anthropology; Ethnic Studies; and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The School has a central focus on global justice with emphases in social and environment justice, food insecurity, and Latino/a studies.

Position Duties: 100% Instruction:

Will administer and teach undergraduate courses in French.

Instructors are responsible for holding regular office hours to assist students with coursework and answer questions regarding curriculum.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: Master's degree in French, teaching, or a related field.

Evidence of teaching French or related field at the college and/or university level.

Native or near-native proficiency in English and French.

Availability on short notice.
