California State University Fullerton seeks a Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Programs who possesses experience administering staff and faculty diversity recruitment and retention programs. Working within the new division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent will partner with the Director of Employment Services and the Associate Director of Executive Recruitment and Branding, to ensure that the University recruits and retains a highly qualified and diverse faculty, staff and administration. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent serves as the University’s chief diversity officer responsible for challenging the status quo and effectuating large scale cultural change in alignment with the University’s strategic goals, mission initiatives and best practices in diversity. The incumbent will collaborate with key stakeholders within the University community and foster relationships with strategic partners and diversity/affinity groups, both internally and externally.

The incumbent will prepare all necessary reports and data in support of the business case for diversity and inclusion policies and practices. Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the compilation of the annual affirmative action report, mandated by the federal government. This role will require the ability to interpret the University’s utilization data on the basis of gender and ethnicity (as compared to national availability data by job group or academic discipline) for administrators and search committees.

Essential Qualifications: Advanced degree from an accredited university (J.D., or M.A. in human resources management, political science, sociology, or other related field) with at least five years of related experience in equal employment opportunity (EEO) compliance in higher education environment, faculty and staff recruitment, or academic affairs. Possess knowledge of relevant federal laws and regulations pertaining to EEO. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Familiarity with shared governance in a public higher education setting. Ability to set strategic direction and design and implement effective institutional diversity policies and programs. Skills in collaboration, managing change, and building consensus. Ability to gather and analyze data and make sound assessments. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Strong leadership skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency to effectively communicate data.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D.  from an accredited university in human resources management, political science, sociology, or other related field. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in driving a successful strategic diversity employment agenda in a large university. A track record of engaging organizations in disciplined processes toward achieving greater diversity. Well-established network of diversity sourcing, including universities. Demonstrated training and coaching skills. CSU and PeopleSoft background a plus. SPHR, PHR or other appropriate certifications.
