GENERAL DUTIES

The Associate Dean administers one or more key College programs.  He/she develops, implements, and assesses programs and services to produce high-quality results and meet strategic goals.  He/she also coordinates activities among different units, and with areas outside the College, and may oversee staff, budget, operations, and facilities.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Hostos Community College is seeking an Associate Dean for the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Management to join a vibrant team of staff, administrators, and students in pursuit of excellence. The Associate Dean will assist the Vice President for Student Development and Enrollment Management in promoting and implementing an integrated strategic plan for a division that includes Advising, Counseling, Placement, Transfer, Accommodations, and Enrollment Services.

As a member of the Vice President's team, the Associate Dean will serve as an advocate for students as well as develop a customer service center environment for its units. The Associate Dean will foster a culture of support and completion that enhances the recruitment, retention, and quality of life for students throughout the continuum of their college experiences.

The College is seeking a builder of teams and programs with excellent communication skills and the ability to drive change, create strong, collaborative teams, and build consensus. The successful candidate will be responsible for various areas in Student Development and Enrollment Management. He or she will possess a proven record of achievement and be a collaborative, experienced, and strategic leader with the capacity to further develop a rewarding undergraduate student experience. The Associate Dean will possess expert knowledge of the competitive higher education landscape and be able to use that knowledge to promote the distinctive strengths of Hostos by identifying prospective students and enhancing the quality of the student body.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are preferred:
- A master's degree, earned doctorate, or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution
- At least seven years in executive senior management, in a culturally diverse and multilingual institution of higher education with progressive leadership experience in Enrollment and Student Affairs
- Experience building and supporting a strong staff that is eager, dedicated, responsive, and student-centered
- Knowledge of business workflow and development and support of professional development of staff
- Evidence of engagement with today's most pressing issues in both enrollment and student affairs; knowledge of national trends in enrollment and student affairs
- Understanding of the opportunities and challenges of a unionized public urban campus; experience and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and performance management process
- Demonstrated respect and experience in fostering a culture that values diversity and inclusion in all its forms
- Experience with state-of-art approaches to implementing strategic enrollment management including the recruitment and retention of diverse populations
- Assessment experience with a goal of continuous quality improvement
- Experience with the latest higher education technologies, information systems, etc.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans.  Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits.
