Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in a legal and/or academic advising field; or a high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of full-time experience in a legal and/or academic advising field. (Note: Post-high school education and/or said experience may substitute at an equivalent rate).

Experience using Microsoft Outlook or comparable software, and familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint or comparable software. Applicants must be able to manage multiple priorities independently, supervise the work of others, and build effective relationships with students, staff and alumni/employers.

Availability for occasional travel and/or attendance at events outside regular working hours is essential.

Background Check Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.

Preferred
J.D. degree or experience in the legal field is preferred. Experience tracking/maintaining data and using social networking sites is also preferred.

Responsibilities
This position assists the Placement Dean by coordinating internal and external programs and events, managing office operations, and developing resource materials for students and alumni. Manages Symplicity database and directs On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) and Resume Referral programs. Also assists with data collection and reporting, student advising, and employer recruitment and outreach efforts. Conducts employer outreach and follow-up via in-person visits (both locally and regionally), as well as through telephone and electronic communications. Attends alumni and employer receptions and networking events. Counsels and advises law students with regard to all job seeking and job preparation activities.

Responsible for all aspects of College of Law's Fall and Spring OCI and Resume Referral programs, including updating and maintaining Symplicity database of students and employers. Conducts outreach to new and existing OCI employers, oversees the collection and distribution of resumes to potential employers, and organizes, plans, and schedules student-employer interviews. Develops and conducts presentations on topics related to job search activities and serves as office coordinator and office contact for student off-campus job fairs. Also assists as needed with other major Placement Office programs.

Maintains, reviews, and approves student and alumni access to Symplicity. Works with Placement Dean to ensure that student profiles are set up and data is entered correctly and completely for reporting purposes to NALP, ABA, and other entities. Also serves as the office contact for Placement Mentors program and works with Alumni Office and Placement Office staff to ensure contact information is current and complete. Designs, administers, and interprets various surveys to law students and legal employers.

Hires, trains, and supervises administrative support personnel. Oversees office coverage and all clerical tasks for Placement Office staff. Coordinates and documents all office purchases and memberships. Maintains and updates information on Placement Office website and Facebook page, and develops resources for students related to job search activities. Researches and coordinates purchases and promotion of new resources and services for students.

Assists Placement Dean in identifying and recruiting new employers to the College of Law. Conducts employer outreach and follow-up via in-person visits (both locally and regionally) as well as through telephone and electronic communications. Schedules regular meetings with local employers to identify potential part-time opportunities for law students during the academic year and summer. Counsels and advises law students with regard to all job seeking and job preparation activities. Advises students about areas of legal practice, expectations of practice, and non-traditional legal careers.
