Position Summary
The Graduate School of International Policy and Management (GSIPM) at the Monterey Institute of International Studies invites applications for a Visiting Professor position in Nonprofit Management and Social Change. Rank is open. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent teaching ability, significant practitioner experience in developing and facilitating capacity-building interventions in nongovernmental and other organizations dedicated to social change, and action-research interests along with relevant publications. The ideal candidate will also have training and experience in methodological design of capacity-building interventions and action-research expertise. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience and course load intensity.


Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or scheduled dissertation defense) as well as a well-rounded set of professional experiences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
In evaluating the record and potential of candidates for appointment, primary consideration is given to the following:

• Teaching ability, as evidenced by appropriate references, student evaluations, and recommendation of peers.

• Professional competence, as evidenced by candidate’s satisfactory professional experience and reputation among professional peers in management. As an entrepreneur and manager the candidate must be professionally qualified.

• Academic competence, as evidenced by the candidate’s educational record; scholarly activities such as publications, research and papers presented at professional meetings; and reputation among peers in the field of International Entrepreneurial and Behavioral Finance/Economics.

• Personal attributes such as integrity, initiative, breath and focus of intellectual interest, and willingness to advise and assist students and participate in Institute activities.

• Characteristics of candidate include experience with interdisciplinary teaching and/or research teams, leadership roles, and fund raising experience.

• MIIS promotes an international and multicultural environment. The ability to work in that environment is required and international experience and second language capabilities are a must.
