Duties: The Director of the POAAGG Study Coordinating Center will work closely with the Principal Investigator of a 5-year $11.3M NIH-funded multi-center genetics research project, in order to ensure the timely accomplishment of its aims. The Center Director will provide leadership, training and oversight to UPenn's POAAGG staff, including all research laboratory staff and the project's Database Manager. She/he will implement the research plan, which includes the generation and analysis of large genetic and phenotypic data sets from up to 9,000 people, based on next-generation DNA sequencing and other methods, oversight of the corresponding large biorepository and genotype/phenotype database, and coordination of UPenn's activities with those of other centers. The Director will oversee spending of an annual $980,000 research budget, and projected management on a multi-year time frame. She/he will assist in writing scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, create progress reports for the PI and sponsors, will actively assist the PI in writing supplemental grant applications and budgets for NIH or private sponsors, and will plan staffing and operational logistics. She/he will also be responsible for the supervision of a molecular diagnostics laboratory that performs high-complexity genetics testing for a heritable form of eye cancer.

Qualifications: Master's degree and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Position contingent upon funding.
