Temporary Summer Program Coordinator
Posting Description: * Coordinate New Summer ESL Student Orientation Program. o Develop a plan for summer academic and social activities program. o Organize student logistics such as airport pick-ups, housing placement, health insurance enrollment, and textbook and supplies purchases. o Plan and attend all Orientation events. o Maintain communication with all prospective summer students with regards to above logistics, including travel, and pre- and post-arrival information. * Maintain ongoing communication with students and coordinate logistics as needed to ensure continued well-being of students while enrolled in summer program at ESL Academy. o Provide a wide range of customer services to students: welcome students, respond to telephone inquiries, engage in outreach to students and other university officials, direct student traffic to appropriate resources, answer student questions, etc. * Generate and update ESL class lists at the beginning of Summer term. o Facilitate student orientation, testing, and registration with Program Coordinators. o Monitor and report to Director any academic, attendance, and/or disciplinary issues that may arise during the course of the summer. o Manage and maintain official records related to student attendance, academic progress, enrollment, and sponsorship, and develop standard letters related thereto for the Director. * Design, market, execute, and evaluate all Summer ESL Academy social events with the intent to facilitate social interaction in English and instruct students about US, Colorado, and CU Denver academic culture. o Research activity vendors and propose activities within budget guidelines. o Create and manage an activities calendar. o Chaperone events as needed. o Track expenditures. * Create and maintain an online presence for the ESL Academy: o Connect current students and alumni using social networks (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). o Monitor all social networks on a regular basis with the goal of promoting a diverse student population with the appropriate range of English proficiency. o Recommend new ways or locations in which to have an online presence. * Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures. * Supervise student employees. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with at least one year of professional experience related to program coordination in an educational office, or five years of equivalent professional experience. * Excellent written and spoken communication skills. * Detail and customer oriented, efficient. * Experience creating and maintaining social networks among students. * Experience organizing socio-cultural activities in Denver and Colorado.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Desired Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with two or more years of professional experience related to program coordination in an educational office, or seven years of equivalent professional experience. * Fluency in a language other than English. * Superior written and spoken communication skills with students who use English as their second language. * Experience working with educational sponsors. * Experience working on small projects independently
