GENERAL DUTIES

Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. 

- Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories

- Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of  equipment and materials

- Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards

- Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities

- Manages equipment and materials inventories.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

- Performs laboratory demonstrations.
- Maintains the storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals in compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Performs general maintenance of the laboratories, storage rooms, and computer room.
- Prepares chemical reagents; sets up chemicals and equipment for the day, evening, and weekend laboratory sessions.
- Maintains inventories of the computers, supplies, chemicals, and other electronic equipment associated with the laboratories.
- Operation and routine maintenance of instruments including IR, GC-MS, UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, HPLC, Ion Chromatograph, Spectrofluorimeter, NMR, pH meters, conductivity meters, Spectronic 20, Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus Weather Station, Picarro Greenhouse gas monitor.
- Supervise and train federal work study students.
- Give tours of the labs/department equipment.
- Provide related support to assist in the growth of the department and its programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience.  Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in a science or related field at the time of the appointment plus 4 years of laboratory experience preferred.

COMPENSATION

$36,795 - $54,848; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
