University Relations & Communications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.

Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work on a team.

Knowledge of the standards, principles, trends, and practices of news production.

Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information as well as the ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.

Experience working with current media technology including issues, trends, web standards and best practices.

Current online publishing experience. Current media placement experience.

Background Check Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.

This is a key position on the university's integrated marketing and communications team within the office of University Communication that works closely with the faculty, staff and students to develop and produce positive publicity about the university delivered in multiple formats for regional, national and global audiences.

Manages the university's online news site (Florida State 24/7 and FSU Web site postings) to include news, graphics, video, social media content. Produces and distributes news releases/advisories/articles. Cultivates and maintains relationships with media to enhance the university's media relation strategy to include story idea pitching. Proofreads copy for the unit and other areas. Provides communications and media relations advice and counsel to internal FSU constituencies.
