Anticipated Salary Range
$34,000 - negotiable

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and two years of experience in a financial field. (Note: Higher education in-field may submit for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with experience reviewing and reconciling budgets, and developing and preparing budget reports. Ability to review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance. Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives, and ability to effectively train and direct the work of others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with success and accuracy; and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.

Experience in a State of Florida University System and experience working with contracts and grant budgets. Experience with OMNI or PeopleSoft (Oracle).

This position is responsible for the supervision of the fiscal staff and coordination of all financial activities for the Department of Mathematics. Responsible for the development, implementation, tracking and monitoring of financial reports and reconciliation.

Responsible for the day to day management and supervision of financial processes for the Department of Mathematics. Coordinates the timely processing of purchasing, p-card, general ledger reconciliation, and travel processes for all budgets, including E&G (expense, OPS and Carry Forward), FSU Foundation, Research Foundation, and Contract and Grants.

Responsible for budget reconciliations and financial reports for Dept Chair or Principle Investigators' review. Notes any recognized or potential issues and recommends and assists with resolution. Works with the Dept. Chair to resolve financial issues and to establish processes to improve efficiency and quality of work for direct reports. Responsible for establishing internal controls to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

Assists the faculty with the budget development and submission of contract and grant proposals. Maintains records on all contracts, advises Principle Investigators (PIs) on the status of grants to include expiration date to ensure utilization of monies. Works with the department and PIs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, university and college policies and procedures regarding the administration and use of regulated and/or restricted resources.

Conducts financial analyses of departmental operations and prepares regular and ad hoc financial operational reports as necessary to assist department chair in developing short and long-term financial plans to ensure financial stability of department. Responsible for reviewing, formulating, and recommending policies/procedures for enhancement of services provided. Responsible for interpreting applicable Florida Statutes, University, and College policies and procedures.
