Position Summary: The Office of Human Resources is seeking a Training Associate. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Assistant Vice President.
The purpose of this position is to enhance the University's Center for Learning & Organizational Development program to support the institution. This position designs and delivers soft skills, management/supervisory and on-line training programs, and organizational development activities to have a university-wide impact. This position will work with employees at all levels of both academic and administrative offices, and must promote a responsive, service-oriented approach.
Audiences will include faculty, staff or mid-to senior administrators in either a general or tailored training to serve the specific needs of a department to enhance effectiveness. Tailored sessions will likely require developing specialized material to adapt the content and generate the improvements sought by that unit.
This position is part of the Office of Human Resources. The Department's mission is to provide innovative leadership, direction and services to achieve effective management of a quality workforce supporting teaching, research and public service at Oregon State University.
Position Duties: 50% - Develop, design and deliver training courses, workshops and seminars. Serve as instructor or facilitator for current and new training courses, workshops, and seminars to include management and supervisory training, change management, process improvement, communication skills, meetings effectiveness, group dynamics, customer service, new employee orientation and other programs.
Provide technical expertise regarding training design, methods, and techniques. Consult with staff on training issues. Write and edit support material for training programs to include manuals, on-line content, PowerPoint presentations and related items. Revise existing programs to keep current and meet the needs of the campus. Develop and lead tailored training sessions to meet the needs of a unit or work group.
25% - Organizational Development & Effectiveness Activities. Assess, design and implement organizational development/effectiveness initiatives for individual or work group performance cases. Provide internal consultation, conduct OD activities to assess circumstances, design and lead sessions to enhance effectiveness. Assist units in change, restructuring and other organizational improvement initiatives. Coordinate with Employee Relations group when appropriate. Coach employees one-to-one at all levels of the organization to enhance their effectiveness.
15% - Facilitate work sessions for groups. Design conversations and work sessions for work groups. Assist individuals or groups work through challenges to improve group dynamics. Assist groups who already perform well to increase their effectiveness and move to an even higher level of performance. The type of activities will include improving communication, team building, problem solving and leadership skills within individuals and groups.
10% - Design, Develop and Maintain On-line Training Programs.
Design and develop on-line training programs that engage adult learners and meet outcomes for content providers. Consult with content experts regarding learning method and design. Knowledge in or ability to learn related software programs.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, training, organizational development, human resources or related field.
Demonstrated experience in designing workshops and writing content.
Varied experience in organizational development activities such as surveying, facilitation, leading strategic planning efforts, and internal consulting.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
At least 2 years of experience in training, organizational development or human resources.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications: Master's degree in business, public administration, training, organizational development, human resources or related field.
Demonstrated experience in management and supervisory training.
Demonstrated experience in writing on-line content and knowledge in on-line software products.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing.
