Position Summary: Oregon State University (OSU) - Cascades, in Bend, Oregon invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, Computer Science Instructor. The person in this position is assigned to work at Oregon State University-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

Ideally, the candidate will be able to begin employment in early - mid December 2013. The Computer Science Instructor needs to be able to teach most undergraduate computer science courses, especially operating systems, compiler design, databases, data structures and introductory programming.

OSU-Cascades offers upper division and graduate courses and is the only branch campus in the state. Started up in the fall of 2001, it now enrolls more than 900 students in a range of bachelor's and master's degree programs. A strong partnership exists with OSU-Corvallis, which has a diverse student body of 25,000 students from across Oregon, all 50 states, and more than 100 countries. At OSU-Cascades most students complete their lower-division program of study at Central Oregon Community College, where OSU-Cascades is currently co-located. Beginning in the fall of 2012, OSU-Cascades began moving programs to a new location designed to become the OSU-Cascades campus. The move is expected to be completed by fall 2015, when OSU-Cascades adds the lower division courses to its programs.

Position Duties: 80% - Teach and provide curriculum development and program administration in the area of Computer Science (CS).

10% - Outreach involving external stakeholders.

10% - Serve on departmental, college and university committees and service to the community; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: M.S. degree in Computer Science or related area is required.

The ability to teach most undergraduate Computer Science courses especially operating systems, compiler design, databases, data structures and introductory programming is required.

Teaching experience is required.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications: PhD or terminal degree in Computer Science or related field.

Teaching experience at the college or university level, a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student mentoring and curriculum development, electronic course development and delivery, and demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
