Hofstra University's Information Technology division has an opening for an Instructional Technologist. This Instructional Technologist position reports to the Assistant Director of Faculty Computing Services and works in close collaboration with the Dean of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business. This position will work with all other members of Faculty and Student Computing and Hofstra's Information Technology division to support the teaching and research activity of Hofstra's Zarb School of Business. Hofstra's Faculty Computing Services group supports enhancing instructional uses of technology in the curriculum. The position requires maintenance and support of discipline-specific applications and facilities (such as the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room), liaison activities between the Zarb School and the various Information Technology Departments plus some area of in-depth instructional technology expertise, preferably experience in teaching or in classrooms support and the ability to coordinate timely solutions to technical problems. Additional responsibilities assigned will include training, support of faculty use of Hofstra's course management system or other University systems, writing documentation, or other tasks as appropriate. Academic Operations supports the entire University and as such the position will perform some tasks that support the University as a whole as well as the position's primary departmental responsibilities. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. This is an opportunity to be a member of a cooperative, innovative team serving great students and faculty. Qualifications: We seek a person with experience in supporting the specific technology needs of a selective, highly rated AACSB-accredited business school curriculum. The successful candidate will be interested in and sympathetic with the mission of faculty teaching at a nationally recognized university. Graduate work or a graduate degree in a related academic field is desirable (the school's programs and majors can be seen at Teaching experience is desirable. Familiarity with Windows on a systems level is desirable. A high level of computer skills is a requirement for the position. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required.
