Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:

Develops and administers lab exercises/experiments to reinforce and illustrate instructor lectures and meet course objectives through practical experience in workforce education/technical programs. Prepares laboratory experiments/exercises necessary to demonstrate learning experiences taught by course instructor in lecture environment. Assists students through clarification of course assignments, lectures, tests and lab exercises. Works with students individually and in small groups to select and use the instructional resources to demonstrate assignments. Troubleshoots minor equipment repairs; may coordinate major repairs with vendors or college repair department. Provide instruction to students in non-credit/non-transferable courses. Occasionally instructs credit classes in the absence of the assigned instructor. Assist instructor through selection of tests from tests banks, administration of exams, and recording grades. May participate in development of curriculum/resources. Participate in periodic inventory of capital equipment. Responsible for maintaining lab supplies, preparing materials requisition, receiving and storing functions. Provide guidance, direction, and initial orientation of adjunct faculty, supervise instructional assistants and/or clerical support staff. Maintain a variety of related records and provide information required for decision-making. Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands:

Most incumbents work with light, easy to handle materials. Some incumbents may occasionally be required to work with moderately heavy equipment/material weighing up to 75 pounds.

Associate's degree or higher or one year of college level coursework with courses in direct relation to assigned area plus one year of work experience in the assigned area which includes experience in teaching, tutoring and training or high school graduate plus three year of work experience in the assigned area which includes experience in teaching, tutoring and training. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Some instructional areas may require greater degree of knowledge based on instructional programs. Some incumbents are required to have knowledge of safe use and disposition of hazardous chemicals. Oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of DCCCD staff. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service. Official transcripts will be required. *Will be subject to a criminal background check.*


Position Specific Qualifications:

Must be able to setup teaching materials for Nursing Skills Lab Classes and general health career skill lab classes. This also includes setup for simulation labs. Needs to have a basic knowledge of nursing equipment/medical equipment and supplies. Provides instructional support, functions in a self-paced or open health skills lab environment under the guidance of the Director of Skills Lab or the Dean of Nursing. Coordinates the distribution and retrieval of classroom resources.
Use a computer inventory system to log in received supplies and equipment as well as log out supplies and equipment. Orders and keeps inventory of teaching equipment and supplies.
Computer skills creating Word documents and Excel spreadsheets required. Certified or licensed medical experience a plus.
